Unrelated Sisters: Truth & Grace Conversations's Podcast
Unrelated Sisters: Truth & Grace Conversation is a safe space for anyone who's ever felt overlooked, overwhelmed, or off-track. Through honest conversation, biblical truth, and sisterhood/brotherhood that goes beyond blood, we journey together—restored by grace, grounded in faith, and called for more. Where two faith-filled women dive into real-life topics with honesty, scripture, and sisterhood and brotherhood. It’s where truth speaks, grace covers, and everyone is welcomed just as we are.
John 1:16 (NIV)
“Out of His fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given.”
We choose John 1:16 because it reflects the layers of grace we talk about—the redemptive grace, the sustaining grace, the identity-giving grace—and it speaks to the fullness of Christ that we prayer pours into our listeners.
Isaiah 40:31
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
We choose this verse because it emphasizes the strength, endurance, and renewal that come from placing trust in God, which perfectly aligns with resilience, faith, and empowerment within our podcast. It speaks to the idea that, even in challenging times, women can find strength and grace through their faith, soaring above life's difficulties with renewed strength.
“Rooted in truth. Covered in grace. Carried by faith.”

We are not here to entertain emotions. We are here to anchor hearts.
A Prayer to help you start the new year
Father God,
We thank You for carrying us through last year — through the things we talk about and the things we still don’t have words for.
Thank You for grace that covered us when we were weak, mercy that met us when we fell short, and love that never walked away.
As we step into this new season, we ask You to align our hearts with Yours. Strip away performance, fear, and pressure. Teach us how to abide, how to listen, how to trust.
Renew our minds with truth. Strengthen our spirits with Your Word. Lead us with Your peace.
We surrender this year to You — the unknown, the healing, the growth, the waiting, and the joy.
Have Your way, Lord.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Dear Lord, we thank you for this day. We thank you for your mercy and your blessings and your grace. We thank you for this opportunity to sow seeds into the people that listen to our podcast, Lord Jesus. We are so humbled by the growth of our podcast over this last eight months, Lord Jesus. We are starting a new year. We're going to start a new season. We pray that every word that comes out of our mouth, every word that is heard and listened to is your word, Lord Jesus. Give us the strength to hear what you want us to say and to deliver it in the way that you want us to deliver it, Lord Jesus. I pray over my voice. I pray over the guests that I'm going to have this year. I pray over every opportunity, every story, every verse, every every quote, everything that you have me say, Lord Jesus, that is in your name and that it glorifies you. And that this podcast continues to grow and continues to bring discipleship to the people around us, Lord Jesus. Please give us all strength to listen to you even when we're in the rubble. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Well, welcome back. This is Unrelated Sisters Truth and Grace Conversation, and I'm your host, Shannon. And today I just kind of want to take a moment. I want to, I know we've only been doing this since April, which is eight months, but I feel like this is a new year and that God is heading us in a new direction, uh, in a new way. Uh, He has just been flooding me since we took a month of rest with all these different topics to talk about and all the different things that I feel like y'all are wanting to hear. I feel like I need to talk about. I never know who is gonna heal y'all or me. Um But I just kind of want to set the tone for the year. I just kind of want to give a new reflection for the year. This is gonna be episode one of season two. I'm super, super excited about season two. Um you know, usually when things get hard or when I get in the mood that you know I was in in the month of November, uh-uh, I just kind of let I kind of let it go. Um, but God wouldn't let this go. He he let me rest in the month of December. He and then as soon as the new year started, he just started, I just started hearing all again, you know. Uh all these new ideas coming and all these new episodes come in. So I just kind of want to set us up for the new year. You know, uh, before we talk about what's ahead, we need to honor what God has already done. So last year held tears we didn't expect, healing we didn't plan, and obedience that cost us something, and grace that met us in the places we were once ashamed of. Some of the some of you listen faithfully every week. Some of you found this podcast in the middle of your darkest nights, and some of you disappeared for a season because life hits hard. Let me tell you this clearly: there is no shame here. There is no guilt, there is no judgment, there's no shame. This space was never about perfection, it was always, it has always been about perseverance, God's presence, honest presence, showing up as we are and letting truth and grace meet us where we are. You know, we talk a lot about coming as you are, but what I've learned most this year is we come as we are, and then God starts to slowly take us to where he wants us to be, and we have to be open to that. We have to be open to meet his grace and to let his truth come through. This episode's not about a hype, it's not about alignment, it's not about pressure or purpose, it's not about performance. It's not, it's just about us. So last year we talked about identity in Christ, chains we don't talk about, forgiveness that hurts before it heals, comparison, insecurities, and feelings, not enough. Waiting seasons and God's silence, strength, discernment, spiritual maturity, living from love instead of striving from approval, and through all of it, one truth stayed the same. God meets us in the middle. Not after we get to get it together, not after everything is perfect. He meets us where we are. We didn't stir-coat the gospel, we didn't pretend healing was instant, we didn't ignore the hard questions, we chose truth and grace. That doesn't change this year. And I think um I'm gonna stay with the same grounds of last year, but I want to grow in our maturity with God. So unrelated sisters, truth and grace conversation exists to create a safe, honest, and faith-filled space where women and men encounter biblical truth, experience God's grace, and grow into who He has called us to be. Not by striving, but by surrendering. This podcast is for women and men who love Jesus, but is still healing. For the woman who believes God but wrestles with doubt. For the man who trusts in God but wrestles with doubt. For the woman who knows scripture but needs to be to meet her in the life, and for a man who needs the scripture to be the head of the house. We are not here to entertain emotions. We are here to enter the few things. You know, it's definitely God's choice of where we're headed. But I want us to go deeper. I don't want us to be louder. You know, we are choosing depth over noise, scripture over slogans, and presence over popularity. I don't care if I just gain one more listener this year, if we just gain one more download this year, as long as it's what God wants us to be, as long as it's what God wants us to be, as long as it's what He wants us to say, as long as it's what He wants us to talk about. I wanted to, I want to, you know, I wanted to be I want to be a disciple. I don't want to just inspire people. I want to be a disciple. I want encouragement. It's good, but truth is transforming. I want you to understand the truth that God gives us. We will teach scripture in a way that's practical, apical, and rooted in love. We will teach it the best that we understand it, but you have to dig into it to understand it for you. I want to normalize the processes. Healing is not linear, faith is not always loud, and obedience sometimes looks like resting. We talk about the middle a lot, not just the miracles. And sometimes God is the loudest in the middle, and that's when we ignore him the most. So I just want us to I just want us to heal together. I want us to believe in our faith together, and I want us to grow in our truth together. And then I just want to remind you who God is, not who culture says he is, not who your traumas painted him to be, but who scripture reveals him to be. Faithful, present, patient, holy, and loving. This year's scripture is gonna be Lamentations 3, 22 through 23. Because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed, for his compassion never fails. They are never, they are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. This is our anchor verse for the year. No new habits, not new goals, not new versions of ourselves. We're not here to make a new year's resolution. We are here to give new mercy every morning because that's what God gives us. Every morning when we wake up and we open our eyes, God has given us new mercy for the day. You didn't exhaust God last year, you didn't disappoint him beyond repair, and you didn't miss your moment forever. If you woke up today, mercy showed up to you. Let's repeat that. If you woke up today, mercy showed up to you. God's mercy shows up every morning that he wakes you up, and you should be thankful. Biblical truth for the season ahead. Here's the truths we are carrying into this year. Not the new year's resolutions that everybody is doing, not the goals that we are gonna set for us personally to lose weight, read our Bible every day, or to read a Bible in one year, or to think life's not gonna get hard. But here are the truths that we are gonna carry into our year. Please take a moment, write these down, put them on sticky notes, stick them in your bathroom, stick them in your Bible, put them in your car. Remember, these are God's truths to you. God is not rushing you. He's not rushing you to be perfect, he's not rushing you to be the holy God that you think you should be. Because if you were meant to be holy, you would be God. God is not disappointed in your progress. If you took two steps forward and you took five steps back, as long as you're continuing to take two steps forward, God is there with you. He has his mercy and he has given it to you every day. God is not intimidated by your questions. We are like toddlers to God. He is just like your toddler, your child, your young one. And the way we learn is we ask questions. The way we understand is we ask questions. And sometimes you hear it directly from God, and sometimes you have to be able to listen to who God's making. God is not distant from your pain. We have to remember that God is born as a child, as a human child on this earth. And he went through pain. He went through negativity, he went through life. Now, how he directed that life, how he took those hardships, how he looked to his father for guidance and for prayer and for strength is how he wants us to do. But he understands our pain and he understands where we are. He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion. Philippians 1, 6. He began a good work in you last year, and he will carry you through it through this year. No matter how much life gets in the way, stay on your path. Pray every day. Read your Bible every day. Completion doesn't mean faith. It means faithful. It means you're going to be faithful. It may not be the day. It may not be the year. Here's encouragement and honest invitation to be listeners. Gentlemen, listeners, this year is not about becoming someone else. It's about becoming rooted. Rooted in your faith. Rooted in the gospel. Rooted in God. If you're tired, rest. If you're hurting, bring it to Jesus. If you're unsure, stay close. Pray. Talk to him. Listen. You don't have to do everything. You just have to stay surrendered. And sometimes surrender is hard. And sometimes it's hard to let go of things. Because life will be life. And things will be happening. But if you surrender those to Him, He will walk you through it. He stands next to you in every fire, every rubble, every chaos. Let this be the year you stop striving for perfection and you just start abiding by what He's telling you, by what He's asking you to do. And don't get me wrong, this is just as much for me as it is for the listeners. You know, I've talked a lot about I like to argue with God and I like to ask questions and I like to question him. And this chair I'm gonna strive to do better. I'm gonna strive to jump feet first when I hear his voice, because I know his voice. I know it's him whispering to me. I'm gonna be in prayer about everything that I think he wants me to do so that I hear his voice tell me to do it. As we close up this episode and as we get ready to head into this new year, please pray. Please read your Bible and please listen to this podcast. Father God, we thank you for carrying us through this year, through the things we talk about and the things we still don't have words for. Thank you for your grace that covered us when we were weak and mercy that met us when we fell short, and love that never walked away. As we step into the new season, we ask you to align your heart with ours, with yours. Strip away performance, fear, and pressure. Teach us how to abide, how to listen, how to trust. Give us the strength, Lord Jesus, to renew our minds with truth, strengthen our spirits with your word, and lead us with your peace. We surrender this year to you the unknown, the healing, the growth, the waiting, the joy, and everything in between. We love you. And we so excited for this year, Lord Jesus. And we pray this prayer over every one of our listeners, over every one of our guests, over myself, over my family, over everything that needs to be prayed over, Lord Jesus. We give it to you, we surrender to you, Lord Jesus, and we only want to hear your voice. Please give us strength that we don't understand, and give us prayer that brings your presence that when people see us walk into a room, they see you, Lord Jesus. Give us that boldness. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
